The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired utility infielder Mark DeRosa from the Cleveland Indians for reliever Chris Perez and a player to be named later. DeRosa was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Tribe during the offseason and the team never hit its stride. The Indians decided to move DeRosa now to obtain as much in return as possible. DeRosa can play all infield positions and the Cardinals were looiking for a third baseman with injured Troy Glaus on the DL.
