The Seattle Mariners have chosen Lake Brantley High School shortstop Nicholas Franklin with the 27th pick in the 2009 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. Franklin doesn’t have all the tools to be a Major Leaguer just yet but he plays the game the right way. He won’t jump out at you when you watch him play but he has a very high baseball IQ.
